GHMC transfers 60 engineers to boost sanitation across expanded zones

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has transferred 60 deputy executive engineers in its Solid Waste Management wing as part of a broader plan to improve city sanitation. These GHMC transfers are aimed at boosting efficiency in newly merged areas.

Commissioner R.V. Karnan issued the orders on Thursday. The move follows the state government’s decision to merge 27 municipalities from Ranga Reddy, Medchal–Malkajgiri, and Sangareddy districts into the GHMC limits. Most of these municipalities fall within the Outer Ring Road (ORR) boundary.

Engineers posted across 12 reorganised zones

To manage the expanded jurisdiction, GHMC reorganised itself into 12 zones and 60 circles. The transferred engineers have been assigned to various circles across zones such as Malkajgiri, Uppal, LB Nagar, Shamshabad, Rajendranagar, Charminar, Golconda, Khairatabad, Secunderabad, Serilingampally, Kukatpally, and Quthbullapur.

According to Commissioner Karnan, these postings will help streamline garbage collection and improve solid waste management operations. He instructed the engineers to immediately take charge of their new responsibilities. Moreover, he asked the respective Superintending and Executive Engineers to assist in the transition process.

GHMC believes these transfers will directly contribute to cleaner surroundings in the newly added municipal areas. The civic body expects better coordination and quicker response times in waste handling under the new structure.
