Hyderabad: GHMC intensified its Special Monsoon Drive across Hyderabad from August 11 to 21. The civic body focused on sanitation, monsoon preparedness, public health and citizen awareness during the campaign.
GHMC teams removed 40.5 MT of legacy municipal solid waste and 19 MT of construction and demolition waste. They also filled 94 potholes, cleaned 156 catch pits and cleared 3 culverts.
The teams removed 5 MT of floating material and silt during the drive. They also initiated work on 5 rainwater harvesting structures to strengthen monsoon preparedness.
GHMC inspected 8 public toilets and installed 58 commercial bins. Meanwhile, officials covered 5 schools through information, education and communication activities and training programmes.
The school activities reached 186 participants. Health teams also conducted 249 health IEC activities and carried out 248 pyrethrum spraying activities.
GHMC monsoon drive expands sanitation and public health work
As part of the campaign, GHMC distributed 296 Indiramma sarees. Teams also cleared 20.8 MT of tree branches and 7.7 MT of park waste from 28 parks.
The civic body said the drive strengthened sanitation and public health measures across Hyderabad. The campaign also focused on keeping public spaces cleaner and improving preparedness during the monsoon.
GHMC said the activities were aimed at making Hyderabad cleaner, healthier and more resilient during the rainy season. The Special Monsoon Drive covered multiple civic services across the city.
