Hyderabad: Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and Fisheries Minister Vakiti Srihari on Saturday reviewed preparations for the fish prasadam distribution at the Exhibition Grounds in Nampally. They directed officials to ensure safety and public convenience ahead of the June 8 event.
Organisers will begin distributing fish prasadam to asthma patients at 9 PM on June 8, marking the start of Mrigashira Karthi. The Ministers asked all departments to coordinate closely so visitors do not face inconvenience during the programme.
They instructed authorities to stay vigilant, prevent overcrowding in queue lines and maintain law and order throughout the event. They also ordered officials to ensure an uninterrupted power supply during the distribution.
Considering the summer heat, the Ministers directed officials to install fans and air coolers in waiting areas to provide relief to patients and visitors.
Safety measures strengthened for fish prasadam distribution
Officials will monitor operations through a dedicated WhatsApp group and a control room at the Exhibition Grounds. The monitoring system will remain active until the programme concludes.
The Ministers also asked departments to prevent traffic congestion around Nampally. They directed officials to deploy ambulances, set up medical camps with sufficient medicines and station CPR teams along queue lines to handle emergencies.
Vakiti Srihari instructed authorities to deploy She Teams and make regular announcements warning visitors about pickpocketing. He also ordered continuous CCTV surveillance to strengthen security.
The Minister said officials must provide adequate drinking water facilities. He also urged voluntary organisations to continue serving food to devotees attending the event.
Ponnam Prabhakar, who also serves as the Hyderabad district in-charge Minister, said the Mrigashira programme is usually conducted in the morning. This year, however, organisers will begin the event at 9 PM on June 8.
“Since the Mrigashira event is taking place at night, we are taking all necessary measures to ensure smooth conduct of the programme. The distribution of fish prasadam will continue without interruption until the evening of June 9,” he said.
Rajya Sabha member Anil Kumar Yadav, Fisheries Corporation Chairman Mettu Saikumar, Sports Authority of Telangana Chairman Shiva Sena Reddy and officials from several departments attended the review meeting.
