Father, daughter electrocuted while clearing fallen tree branches in Alwal

Hyderabad: A father and daughter died in an Alwal electrocution incident at Telecom Colony on Saturday morning after they reportedly came into contact with a snapped electricity cable.

Police identified the victims as Sandeep (44) and his daughter Rithika (16), residents of Telecom Colony in Alwal.

According to police, the family was clearing tree branches that had fallen on the road outside their house following heavy rains the previous night.

During the exercise, Sandeep and Rithika allegedly came into contact with a live electric wire and collapsed.

Alwal electrocution leaves two dead

Both victims died on the spot, police said.

Meanwhile, Sandeep’s wife sustained burn injuries in the incident.

Authorities shifted her for medical treatment.

After receiving information, police rushed to the scene and launched an inquiry.

Officials later shifted the bodies to the Gandhi Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination.

Police suspect that an electricity cable snapped during the rain and fell onto the road.

Investigators believe the victims accidentally touched the live wire while removing the fallen branches.

Police registered a case and are investigating the circumstances leading to the incident.
