Harish Rao criticised the Congress-led Telangana government for its inaction on paddy procurement delays, warning that farmers’ distress could escalate if immediate steps are not taken.
HYDERABAD: Senior BRS leader and former minister T. Harish Rao has sharply criticized the Congress-led Telangana government, accusing it of neglecting farmers’ issues, particularly delays in paddy procurement. He alleged that while farmers are protesting on the streets, the government remains unresponsive to their concerns.
Speaking to the media on Monday, Harish Rao stated that the government had failed to fulfill its promises, leaving thousands of farmers in distress. He claimed that despite repeated assurances, paddy procurement had not been streamlined, forcing cultivators to struggle to sell their produce.
“The government is in deep slumber while farmers are on the roads. Delayed procurement is causing significant distress, and if the administration does not act immediately, the situation could worsen,” he warned.
Harish Rao further accused the Congress government of making hollow promises before the elections but failing to deliver once in power. He contrasted the current scenario with the previous BRS government, asserting that under BRS rule, paddy procurement and farmer payments were handled efficiently and on time.
With farmer protests intensifying across Telangana, the opposition is increasing pressure on the government to resolve the crisis. BRS leaders have warned of large-scale agitation if farmers’ grievances are not addressed promptly.
