DGP C.V. Anand launches STHREE RIDE women drivers initiative

Hyderabad: Director General of Police C.V. Anand launched STHREE RIDE, a women drivers initiative organised by the Women Safety Wing, and described it as a strong step towards women’s empowerment and economic independence.

Addressing the gathering, the DGP said women’s safety, empowerment and capacity-building remain key priorities of Telangana Police.

He urged women to face challenges confidently and create opportunities for themselves instead of waiting for others to provide them.

STHREE RIDE promotes women’s empowerment and safety

Anand said Telangana Police has introduced several initiatives to strengthen women’s safety across the state.

He cited programmes such as SHE Teams, SHE Shuttles, SHE Apps, SHE Cabs, Bharosa Centres, CDEW and counselling centres.

The DGP also highlighted the appointment of women officers to key positions, including DCPs, SHOs and Sub-Inspectors.

He said these measures have increased women’s participation in policing and decision-making.

Referring to the Stand With Her campaign, Anand said the initiative encourages citizens to report harassment and support women facing difficulties.

He noted that STHREE RIDE reflects the same commitment to protecting, supporting and empowering women.

The DGP assured participants that Telangana Police would continue supporting women who choose professional driving as a career.
