Cyberabad to shut liquor outlets for Bonalu celebrations

Hyderabad: Cyberabad Police have ordered Liquor outlets to remain closed in six police station limits on August 9 to ensure the peaceful conduct of Bonalu celebrations.

Cyberabad Police Commissioner Dr. M. Ramesh issued the order under Section 20 of the Telangana State Excise Act, 1968. Moreover, he said the restrictions were necessary to maintain public peace and order during the festival.

The order covers wine shops, toddy shops and bars attached to restaurants. However, it does not apply to bars operating in star hotels and registered clubs. The restrictions will remain in force from 10 am to 10 pm.

Liquor outlets to remain shut in six areas

The restrictions will apply to establishments located within the limits of Kukatpally, Allapur, Raidurgam, Jeedimetla, Medchal and Chandanagar police stations.

Finally, the Commissioner said the temporary closure formed part of precautionary measures to facilitate the smooth and peaceful conduct of Bonalu festivities.
