Hyderabad: Cyberabad Traffic Police booked 315 offenders during a weekend enforcement drive targeting Cyberabad drunk driving, reinforcing strict action against violations.
Officials said most cases involved two-wheelers, which accounted for 268 offences. Three-wheelers made up 15 cases, while 28 involved four-wheelers and four cases were linked to heavy vehicles.
Police data showed that 277 offenders recorded Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) levels between 36 mg/100 ml and 200 mg/100 ml. Another 27 offenders had BAC levels ranging from 201 mg/100 ml to 300 mg/100 ml. Meanwhile, 11 offenders registered levels between 301 mg/100 ml and 550 mg/100 ml.
All those booked will be produced before the court. Authorities reiterated that cyberabad drunk driving is a serious offence and warned of stringent punishment in severe cases.
Cyberabad drunk driving enforcement and legal penalties
The police stated that any individual causing a fatal accident while driving under the influence would be charged under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with culpable homicide not amounting to murder. The provision carries a maximum punishment of 10 years’ imprisonment along with a fine.
In addition, officials shared enforcement outcomes from last week, between April 13 and April 18. A total of 120 cyberabad drunk driving cases were disposed of in courts. Among them, one offender received both a fine and a jail term, while 119 offenders were penalised with fines.
Police said enforcement drives would continue to deter violations and improve road safety across Cyberabad limits.
