Hyderabad: Telangana Government Advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Saturday said Congress-backed candidates are poised to win 80% of the gram panchayat sarpanch seats in Kamareddy. He attributed this lead to the party’s expanding welfare delivery and strong grassroots presence.
Addressing a press conference at the Congress district office in Kamareddy, Shabbir Ali said four Congress candidates had already secured unopposed victories. These include Kelothu Padma Swamy from Venuka Thanda in Machareddy mandal. Additionally, Marupaka Anjamma Lakshmi Rajyam from Yellampet, Banoth Sriram from Ankireddypalli Thanda, and Maloth Santosh from Bodagutta Thanda also won unopposed.

He noted that Telangana’s incentive of ₹10 lakh for each unanimously elected sarpanch would be matched by another ₹10 lakh. This additional amount will come through MP funds, party sources, and private contributions arranged by Congress.
Shabbir Ali also outlined several welfare schemes introduced by the Congress government under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. These include ₹304 crore in interest-free loans to women’s self-help groups across the state. In Kamareddy alone, officials disbursed ₹3.25 crore. The third phase of the scheme is already underway.
Additionally, he said the government sanctioned 3,500 Indiramma houses for women in the constituency. Households now receive 200 units of free power, subsidised fine rice, and LPG cylinders at ₹500. Moreover, the state has launched free bus travel for women and begun allocating petrol bunks to eligible female beneficiaries.
