Congress will win Jubilee Hills with huge majority: Shabbir Ali

Hyderabad: Senior Congress leader and government advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Sunday said the Congress party would secure a decisive win in the Jubilee Hills by-election. Addressing minority leaders, social representatives, and party workers at his residence, he urged voters to support Congress candidate Naveen Yadav for a progressive mandate.

Shabbir Ali said only Congress had the political and moral credibility to empower minorities. He criticised the BRS for a decade of neglect that dismantled educational institutions and failed to protect Waqf properties. He said 46 minority engineering colleges had closed during BRS rule, denying thousands of students access to higher education.

The Congress leader highlighted party’s legacy of minority welfare, recalling that the party created India’s first Minorities Welfare Department in 1993. He said the welfare budget had risen from ₹2 crore to ₹1,027 crore over two decades. He also mentioned the 4% Muslim reservation, approval of medical and professional colleges, the Central Waqf Act amendment, and the launch of the National Waqf Development Corporation.

Shabbir Ali said Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had revived Telangana’s inclusive vision. He pointed to the sanctioning of a Minority Law College, two Pharmacy Colleges, and the addition of 2,200 engineering seats in minority institutions. In the recent DSC recruitment, 720 of 10,006 selected candidates were from minority backgrounds.

He also spoke about the shortage of Muslim graveyard space in Jubilee Hills and promised to raise the issue with the Chief Minister. He urged the community to work together for long-term solutions.
