Congress, BRS lowered political standards in Telangana, says BJP

Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao on Thursday accused the Congress and the BRS of lowering political standards in the State. He alleged that both parties had abandoned values and restraint in public life.

Speaking after paying tributes to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his 101st birth anniversary at the BJP State headquarters, Ramchander Rao said political defections and derogatory remarks by leaders of both parties were insulting to the people of Telangana.

He said the country was observing Sushasan Divas to honor Vajpayee’s legacy of value-based politics and dignified debate. He contrasted Vajpayee’s political conduct with what he described as the vengeful and vulgar language used by leaders of the ruling Congress. He also criticized the opposition BRS in Telangana.

Congress, BRS blamed for debt, decline in discourse

Ramchander Rao alleged that the BRS government had pushed Telangana into deep debt over the past decade. He further claimed that the present Congress government was aggravating the financial situation without delivering development or attracting investments.

He said despite foreign tours and the “Telangana Rising” campaign, the Congress government had failed to bring major investments or companies to the State. Moreover, he alleged that both the Congress and the BRS had emptied the State treasury and weakened Telangana’s financial position.

Highlighting Vajpayee’s contribution to nation-building, the BJP leader recalled initiatives such as the Golden Quadrilateral project. He said the Union government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi was continuing the path of good governance. They are doing so through major welfare and infrastructure programmes.

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar attended the programme along with senior BJP leaders.
