Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday briefed National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) Chairman Kishor Makwana and Commission members on the state’s education reforms and SC welfare initiatives during a meeting at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Praja Bhavan.
The Chief Minister said the government had introduced several reforms to eliminate caste discrimination among students. Meanwhile, he highlighted the establishment of Young India Integrated Residential Schools (YIIRS) in every Assembly constituency.
SC welfare initiatives include education reforms
Revanth Reddy said the government was constructing each YIIRS campus on 25 acres. He added that the schools were expected to become operational from the next academic year.
The Chief Minister also outlined the Telangana Public Schools initiative. Additionally, he said the schools would provide education from nursery to Class 12. Students would receive breakfast and lunch on campus. The government also plans to provide transport facilities. He said the first phase would focus on the Core Urban Region.
Revanth Reddy said the government was providing opportunities to SC communities beyond their population share. He also highlighted their representation in politics and other sectors. Moreover, he said the state had completed and implemented the sub-classification of SC sub-groups.
The Chief Minister requested the NCSC to facilitate greater assistance from the Central government for the development of SC communities in Telangana.
Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar, Government Adviser Mohammed Ali Shabbir, Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju, DGP C.V. Anand, NCSC members and senior state government officials attended the meeting.
