Hyderabad: CPI senior leader and former MLA Chada Venkat Reddy demanded strict punishment for Bandi Bhageerath in the POCSO case and criticised the government’s handling of the investigation.
Speaking to the media, Chada Venkat Reddy said political influence should not affect criminal investigations and urged authorities to take action strictly according to law.
He said leaders should not defend family members if they commit offences and added that justice must prevail irrespective of political background.
The CPI leader remarked that “there cannot be smoke without fire” while reacting to the allegations in the case.

Chada Venkat Reddy demanded that police speed up the investigation and complete the inquiry without delay.
He alleged that the government initially failed to act seriously in the case despite the gravity of the allegations.
The former MLA said authorities should ensure a transparent investigation and punish those found guilty.
Pet Basheerabad police had earlier registered a case against Bandi Bhageerath following a complaint filed by a minor girl.
Police later invoked sections of the POCSO Act after recording the victim’s statement during the investigation.
The case triggered political reactions across Telangana, with several opposition leaders demanding immediate action against the accused.
Police also issued notices asking the accused to appear before investigators for questioning as part of the ongoing probe.
