Celebrations at Gandhi Bhavan after approval of 42 percent BC reservations

Hyderabad: Congress leaders and workers celebrated at Gandhi Bhavan after the Telangana Assembly passed the bill granting 42 percent reservations for backward classes (BCs) in local bodies.

The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) called for the celebrations at Gandhi Bhavan. TPCC vice president Sangishetti Jagadish Rao and Mahila Congress president Sunita Rao led the celebrations. Workers burst firecrackers, shared sweets, and thanked party leaders.

Jagadish Rao called the bill’s approval a landmark for social justice. He said the removal of the cap on reservations showed the party’s commitment to backward communities. He credited AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for championing the cause.

The Congress leader also thanked Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud, AICC in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, minister Ponnam Prabhakar, and other cabinet members for supporting the bill.

National OBC coordinator Keturi Venkatesh, Puli Anil Kumar, and several other leaders joined the event.
