Hyderabad: Telangana Mahila Congress staged a protest at Gandhi Bhavan on Sunday under the slogan “Vote chor gaddi chod,” demanding accountability from the ruling government.
State Mahila Congress president Mogali Sunita Rao led the agitation at noon despite police placing women Congress workers under house arrest across the state. She said the demonstration succeeded in sending a strong political message.
Protest led by Sunita Rao draws attention
During the protest, Mahila Congress activists burnt an effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and raised slogans of dissent. Leaders said the action highlighted growing discontent among women towards central policies.
Sunitha Rao extended thanks to district Mahila Congress presidents, state office bearers, and leaders who contributed to the success of the event. She said the protest was held in response to a call by national Mahila Congress president Alka Lamba and with the approval of TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud.
