BRS launches protest against HILTP over ₹5 lakh crore Hyderabad land scam

Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on Thursday accused the Congress-led Telangana government of engineering a ₹5 lakh crore Hyderabad land scam. The party launched a protest against the Hyderabad Industrial Lands Transformation Policy (HILTP). They called it a cover for transferring public land to private developers.

BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao, accompanied by party MLAs and senior leaders, visited industrial zones in Quthbullapur and Jeedimetla. During the tour, he met workers at Shapur and raised concerns about the removal of employment-generating industries from public land.

KTR claimed the government is repurposing lands reserved for industry to build luxury villas, apartments, and commercial buildings. He pointed out that these plots, worth ₹1.5 lakh per square yard in the market, are being handed over to select individuals at just ₹4,000 per yard.

KTR says 9,300 acres meant for public use now going to builders

According to BRS, the 9,300 acres being distributed under HILTP should support public infrastructure. KTR urged the government to use the land to build houses for the destitute, schools, and hospitals.

He accused the Congress government of failing to build even one Indiramma house despite citing land shortages. He also warned that pushing out industries would destroy lakhs of jobs and weaken Hyderabad’s industrial ecosystem.

To challenge the policy, BRS plans to conduct colony meetings, host roundtables, and call an all-party conference. KTR warned private firms against participating in the scheme. He asserted that a future BRS administration would cancel HILTP and reclaim the land.

HILTP land pricing far below market value, says KTR

Highlighting pricing gaps, KTR said Jeedimetla land valued at over ₹1 lakh per square yard is being sold for just ₹4,000. He noted that the same government boasts of land sales at ₹170 crore per acre elsewhere. However, it is now offering prime plots at ₹1 crore per acre.

He contrasted the HILTP with the earlier GRID policy introduced by BRS, which limited land use to IT and clean industry. He stressed that industrial lands must remain reserved for non-polluting sectors like IT, not for real estate ventures.

KTR accuses Revanth Reddy of using Pharma City for private gain

KTR accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of converting public assets into real estate projects. He alleged that the CM is misusing Pharma City land under a personal initiative called “Future City.”

“Revanth doesn’t understand governance he only understands real estate,” said KTR. “After Pharma City, he is now extending this model to industrial zones across Hyderabad.”

He credited a whistleblower, whom he described as a “true son of Telangana,” with exposing the land diversion. KTR demanded that the government address the allegations rather than focus on how the information came out.
