Sridhar Babu counters BRS claims on land acquisition

Hyderabad: Minister for IT and Industries D. Sridhar Babu on Wednesday rejected BRS land acquisition claims and accused opposition leaders of misleading farmers in Vikarabad.

In a statement, he said leaders of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi were conducting outreach programmes that created confusion among farmers. According to him, these efforts aimed to cast doubts on government policy and disrupt industrial development.

He described Vikarabad as a region now entering mainstream development after earlier neglect. However, he said opposition criticism did not reflect current policy measures and called such remarks politically driven.

On land availability, he pointed out that industrial parks at Chandanvelly and Sitarampur have limited expansion space. Moreover, some land parcels face legal issues and lack proper connectivity, which restricts new investments.

BRS land acquisition claims disputed by minister

Therefore, the government has begun creating a land bank to meet future industrial needs. In addition, authorities identified Kodangal and Pargi for expansion and proposed better connectivity through radial roads and the Regional Ring Road project.

The Minister said officials will follow provisions under the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act 2013. They will prepare Detailed Project Reports and secure required approvals while ensuring legal safeguards.

On compensation, he said BRS land acquisition claims about inadequate benefits were inaccurate. Instead, he stated that landowners will receive compensation and rehabilitation support, including house sites, as per the law.

He urged farmers not to rely on what he termed politically motivated campaigns. He added that industrial expansion would generate jobs, reduce migration, and improve infrastructure, while the government would support affected families.
