Hyderabad: Abusive comment arrest was made by Cyberabad Cybercrime Police, who apprehended a man from Guntur for posting an offensive remark on a social media platform, officials said on Wednesday.
Police identified the accused as Chennaiah Runjala. He allegedly posted the comment after watching a video of actress Renu Desai on YouTube.
Officials said the accused regularly watched online reels in his free time. After viewing the video, he posted an abusive remark using his YouTube account.
Abusive comment arrest highlights cyber misuse concerns
Following a complaint, Cybercrime Police traced the account and detained the accused. They then brought him to the Cyber Crime Police Station in Gachibowli and informed him of the grounds for his apprehension.
During verification, the accused produced the mobile phone used to post the comment. Police seized the device as part of the investigation.
The abusive comment arrest case remains under investigation. Police said such actions fall under cyber offences and can attract legal consequences.
Officials urged citizens to maintain responsible behaviour on digital platforms. They advised users to avoid posting objectionable content and to report cyber offences at nearby cybercrime police stations or through the 1930 helpline.
