BRS backs BC bandh, demands 42% quota implementation

Hyderabad: The BRS party on Saturday extended full support to the BC bandh across Telangana. Senior leaders joined protest rallies demanding 42% reservations for Backward Classes in local bodies without delay.

Former ministers Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Gangula Kamalakar, and V. Srinivas Goud led a rally from Telangana Bhavan to RTC Crossroads. The leaders said the demand reflected the demographic strength of BCs and must be fulfilled without compromise.

Speaking at the rally, Kamalakar accused both the Congress and the BJP of deceiving BCs repeatedly. He said neither party deserved to be part of the bandh, as both had failed to ensure reservation rights. He also warned that ignoring BC quota demands would have serious political consequences.

BRS leaders warn against dilution of BC reservation demand

Former minister Srinivas Goud alleged that the Congress Government had issued illegal GOs and ordinances that caused judicial setbacks, including the High Court’s stay on BC reservations. He said the ruling party had once again betrayed BCs, exposing its lack of credibility on the issue.

Kamalakar asserted that the BRS would never accept any reduction in the 42% quota demand. He said even a one per cent cut would be unacceptable to BCs and their leadership, adding that the fight for social justice would continue.
