BJP MLA remarks on Indira Gandhi trigger Assembly uproar

Hyderabad: A row over Indira Gandhi remarks erupted in the Assembly after BJP MLA Paidi Rakesh Reddy made controversial comments, leading to protests and disruption.

The incident occurred on Wednesday during a discussion on the Ippapuvu Sara issue. Rakesh Reddy suggested naming the scheme after “Tequila” or another alternative instead of Indira Gandhi.

His remarks triggered immediate objections from treasury bench ministers. As a result, the House witnessed disorder.

Minister for Legislative Affairs Sridhar Babu said the comments insulted the memory of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. He termed the remarks inappropriate in the Assembly.
