Hyderabad: BRS MLA Talasani Srinivas Yadav accused the government of failing to build houses in the city, intensifying Hyderabad housing criticism in the Assembly.
He made the remarks on Wednesday and alleged that the government did not build a single house in Hyderabad over the past 28 months.
Talasani said the government showed complete inaction on housing. In contrast, he pointed to the previous BRS government’s performance.
Hyderabad housing criticism highlights past BRS allocations
Talasani said the BRS government sanctioned 2.31 lakh double-bedroom houses. He added that it completed 1.62 lakh houses in the twin cities.
He said authorities allotted around 65,000 houses through a transparent lottery system. He credited former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao for meeting housing needs of the poor.
Moreover, he said the previous government focused on large-scale construction. According to him, this approach addressed long-standing urban housing demands.
Hyderabad housing criticism demands immediate allotment
Talasani demanded immediate allotment of completed houses to eligible beneficiaries. He said many poor families in bastis still awaited housing support.
He also challenged critics to verify the quality of construction under the BRS regime. He maintained that the earlier government ensured proper standards.
The MLA used the Assembly to question the pace of current housing efforts. At the same time, he highlighted achievements of the previous administration.
His remarks added to the political debate over housing delivery in Hyderabad. They also reflected competing claims between the ruling party and the opposition.
