BJP faces backlash for announcing Hyderabad MLC candidate in Hindi

HYDERABAD: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is facing criticism following its recent announcement of the Hyderabad local bodies election candidate. The press note released by the party presented the constituency and candidate’s name in both Hindi and English, but the remainder of the note was exclusively in Hindi. This approach has drawn ire from netizens, who argue that it imposes Hindi on non-Hindi speaking regions.

Critics question why the announcement was not made in Telugu or English, languages widely understood in Telangana. They contend that issuing such communications solely in Hindi disregards the linguistic diversity of the state. This incident has reignited debates over the perceived imposition of Hindi in non-Hindi speaking states, a topic that has seen political leaders from southern states voicing their concerns.

The BJP has previously stated that its government accords equal importance to all regional languages. However, this recent move has led to renewed scrutiny and discussions about language policies and cultural respect in political communications.
