Ambedkar ideals guide women empowerment efforts: Vivek

Hyderabad: Labour and Mines Minister Dr. Gaddam Vivek Venkatswamy said Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s Constitution continued to guide society’s development and inspired efforts towards women empowerment and social upliftment.

The Minister said Ambedkar framed the Constitution by focusing on the welfare of all sections of society. He stated that Ambedkar introduced progressive ideas and created special opportunities for women’s advancement through reservations and social reforms.

Dr. Vivek Venkatswamy recalled supporting the Women’s Reservation Bill during his tenure as a Member of Parliament. He also said his wife had been conducting several awareness and empowerment programmes for women.

The Minister urged women to move beyond household responsibilities and participate actively in education and social activities. He added that institutions established in Ambedkar’s name were providing quality education to children from poor families.

Dr. Vivek Venkatswamy attended the 135th birth anniversary celebrations of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar organised by the GSI Southern Region SC/ST Employees Association at the Geological Survey of India office in Nagole Bandlaguda on Thursday. He also paid floral tributes to Ambedkar’s statue at the venue.

The Minister said continuous struggles remained necessary for public welfare and development. Remembering his father and former Union Minister Gaddam Venkataswamy, he said his father dedicated his life to public welfare and worked towards achieving Ambedkar’s ideals.

He added that values such as helping people and carrying social responsibility came from his father’s example. Furthermore, he called on people to work hard and contribute to national development across sectors.

Dr. Vivek Venkatswamy said the Geological Survey of India was carrying out effective services in Telangana. He suggested that officials should conduct deeper studies and adopt stricter measures against the sand mafia in the state.

The Minister also said more than ₹1,000 crore was being allocated annually for the restoration and development of GSI services. He added that efforts were underway to create employment opportunities and help small businesses grow into large enterprises.

According to the Minister, businesses started with investments of ₹5 lakh had grown into ventures worth crores while creating jobs for many people.

Ambedkar ideals guide GSI programmes

GSI Southern Region DDG B. Ajay Kumar said the Geological Survey of India had served the nation for 175 years. He stated that GSI was currently handling more than 1,000 projects across the country and conducting geological studies in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

GSI Southern Region ADG and HOD Vijay Vishnupant Mugal said Ambedkar framed the Constitution by considering the upliftment of every section of society. He added that the Constitution included all essential aspects required for the nation’s development.

DICCI Women’s Wing National President Aruna Dasari said Ambedkar played a historic role in drafting the Constitution and worked tirelessly for public welfare. She stated that he ensured provisions for the upliftment of Dalits and backward communities.

Dasari also praised Dr. Vivek Venkatswamy for promoting Ambedkar’s ideals through his work for social justice and public welfare.
