Hyderabad: AIMIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi strongly condemned alleged police misconduct against BRS women MLAs in the Telangana Assembly.
Speaking on the issue in the House, Owaisi criticised the alleged treatment of the women legislators. He alleged that police personnel pulled their hair and stepped on their sarees.
The AIMIM leader called the alleged conduct toward women highly regrettable and unacceptable. He said such treatment could not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Owaisi also questioned the contrast between installing a statue of Telangana Talli and the alleged humiliation of women. He said such contrasting actions reflected an inappropriate approach.
Akbaruddin Owaisi seeks strict action against police
The AIMIM floor leader demanded strict action against police officials allegedly involved in the misconduct and attack on the women MLAs.
He urged authorities to hold the personnel responsible for the reported conduct accountable. Furthermore, he said no circumstances could justify such treatment of women legislators.
During the Assembly proceedings, Owaisi called for action against those allegedly responsible. He also reiterated that the alleged conduct against the BRS women MLAs deserved serious attention from the authorities.
