Hyderabad: Aga Khan V met Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy at Falaknuma Palace on Monday. The meeting took place during his first official visit to India since assuming the Imamat.
Prince Rahim Aga Khan V is the 50th hereditary Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslims. He also chairs the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN).
During the meeting, the two discussed the work of the Aga Khan Development Network. They also discussed areas of cooperation in Telangana.
The visit was his first official trip to India since he succeeded his father, Aga Khan IV, in 2025. His India itinerary includes meetings with senior political leaders. It also includes engagements linked to the network’s work in the country.
Aga Khan V discusses AKDN work in Hyderabad
The Aga Khan Development Network has maintained a longstanding presence in Hyderabad. Its work in the city has covered heritage conservation, education and community development.
In particular, the Aga Khan Trust for Culture led the restoration of the Qutb Shahi heritage complex in Hyderabad. The organisation has also been associated with other community-focused initiatives in the city.
The Falaknuma Palace meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the network’s ongoing work. It also covered potential cooperation with Telangana.
Revanth Reddy and the Aga Khan held discussions on these areas during the visit. The engagement formed part of his first official India visit since he assumed the Imamat.
