Hyderabad: A major fire broke out at an ACB printing unit in Prashanth Nagar industrial area of Kukatpally in Medchal district on Tuesday, triggering panic in the surrounding area.
The blaze erupted suddenly inside the facility and spread rapidly. Large quantities of paints, chemicals, liquids and paper filled the premises, adding to the intensity of the fire.
Within minutes, flames engulfed the industrial unit and thick smoke billowed into the sky. Workers and local residents alerted the fire department and police after they noticed the blaze.
Firefighters reached the site with several fire engines soon after receiving the alert. However, paints and chemicals inside the facility made the firefighting operation difficult.
Fire personnel worked to contain the flames. At the same time, they took precautionary measures to stop the fire from reaching neighbouring industrial units.
ACB printing unit suffers major damage
Workers inside the ACB printing unit rushed outside after the fire broke out. As a result, preliminary information indicated that the incident caused no casualties.
The blaze, however, damaged printing machines worth lakhs of rupees. It also destroyed paper stocks, paints and other materials stored inside the facility.
Meanwhile, Kukatpally police reached the scene and began examining the incident. Police registered a case and started investigating the cause of the fire.
