CM Revanth Reddy accuses KCR of pushing Telangana into Rs 7 lakh crore debt

Telangana CM Revanth Reddy alleged that former CM KCR burdened the state with Rs 7 lakh crore debt and accused BRS of colluding with BJP in the MLC elections.

NIZAMABAD: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has alleged that former CM K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) pushed the state into a Rs 7 lakh crore debt, forcing the Congress government to pay Rs 600 crore in interest every month.

As part of the Graduate MLC election campaign, Revanth Reddy addressed rallies in Nizamabad, Mancherial, and Karimnagar on Monday, where he launched a sharp attack on the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leadership. He stated that voters had rejected KCR in the Assembly elections, forcing him into political retirement at his farmhouse. He asserted that BRS is on the verge of disappearing from Telangana’s political landscape.

Revanth Reddy accused BRS of secretly allying with the BJP by not fielding a candidate in the upcoming elections, allegedly aiming to help BJP win. He claimed that KCR was conspiring against the Congress government from his farmhouse while misleading the public after losing power.

Congress Government’s Achievements

Highlighting his government’s achievements, Revanth Reddy stated that in just one year, the Congress had recruited 55,163 government employees, including 11,000 teachers, in contrast to BRS’s decade-long neglect of job appointments. He added that:

– Over 30,000 teachers received promotions under Congress rule.
– A Skill Development University was established, converting 65 ITI colleges into skill development centres.
– A Sports University is being set up to promote athletics among students and youth.

He also highlighted government rewards for Telangana’s top athletes:

– Boxer Nikhat Zareen was given a Group I job and a Rs 2 crore cash reward.
– Cricketer Mohammed Siraj received several benefits, including a Group I post.
– Warangal-based athlete Deepti was awarded Rs 25 lakh and a plot of land.

BJP Accused of Protecting KCR and KTR

The Chief Minister further accused the BJP of shielding KCR and his son, K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) in the phone-tapping case. He alleged that the BJP secured BRS’s support in the MLC elections in exchange for protecting KCR and KTR from legal action.

He also criticised the central government for delaying the extradition of senior police officer Prabhakar Rao from the US, despite Telangana requesting a Red Corner Notice. Additionally, he pointed out that despite Enforcement Directorate (ED) probes, KTR had not been arrested in the E-car racing scam, which, according to him, indicated BJP’s support for BRS.
