Uttam Kumar Reddy launches Telangana’s largest rural job fair in Huzurnagar

Hyderabad: Telangana Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister Capt N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Saturday launched the Huzurnagar Mega Job Mela, described as the largest rural employment event in the state’s history. The two-day fair, organised with support from Singareni Collieries and the Digital Employment Exchange of Telangana (DEET), brought together over 275 companies and more than 40,000 registered job seekers.

During his address, the minister said the initiative aimed to bridge the employment gap between rural and urban youth. “Many educated individuals in villages still struggle due to language barriers and limited access. This mela is designed to correct that imbalance,” he said.

275 companies recruit on-site, 250 offers made on opening day

The fair attracted employers from sectors such as cement, pharmaceuticals, IT, manufacturing, and construction. Interviews began early in the morning. By the time the minister inaugurated the event, 250 candidates had already secured offer letters. Thousands more were still in line for interviews.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said he personally reached out to companies to encourage their participation. “If our youth need training to meet industry standards, we will provide it. This is not just job placement—it is structured skill development,” he explained.

The Congress leadership in Huzurnagar and Kodad played a key role in conceptualising the event. “Based on grassroots feedback, we brought job opportunities directly to the youth,” he added.

Congress government backs rural employment with action

Since assuming office 22 months ago, the Congress-led government has filled over 70,000 public sector vacancies. The minister also highlighted recent recruitments for Group-I, Group-II, and surveyor positions, overseen by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka.

“This job mela marks the beginning of a long-term strategy. We will monitor how many candidates get placed or trained and ensure that even those receiving stipends stay on track,” Uttam said.

To accommodate the crowd, the organisers arranged waiting areas and provided free meals to an estimated 60,000 participants. The minister expressed gratitude to district officials, Singareni staff, DEET officers, Congress cadres, and the media for their coordinated efforts.

“This is a milestone for Telangana,” he said. “Never before has such a large recruitment drive been conducted outside Hyderabad. It reflects our trust in rural youth and our determination to solve unemployment.”
