Unemployed youth protest at Dharna Chowk, demand job notifications

Hyderabad: Hundreds of unemployed youth staged a protest at Dharna Chowk on Friday, demanding immediate release of job notifications for two lakh vacancies across various departments.

Protesters raised slogans accusing the government of betrayal through false promises. They criticised the delay in recruitment through Mega DSC, police department, and Telangana State Public Service Commission.

Aspirants reminded the government that the Congress had promised to fill two lakh posts within one year during the Assembly election campaign. They noted that even after 18 months in power, no large-scale recruitment has been initiated.

One candidate said that despite preparing day and night for competitive exams, the lack of notifications has left aspirants disillusioned. Another protester pointed out that while the previous BRS government had issued notifications for 50,000 posts and held exams, the current government has only released the results of those tests.

A student added, “We don’t want job calendars. We want jobs.” Protesters said delays in recruitment are pushing many aspirants past the eligible age for exams, threatening their chances.

Another aspirant alleged that the government was using court cases as an excuse to delay the notification process. He cited numerous vacant posts in departments like Transco and Telangana Power Generation Corporation that remain unfilled.

The unemployed youth demanded immediate notifications for 20,000 police constable posts, 2,000 Group II posts, and 5,000 Group III posts. They also sought recruitment for vacant posts in residential educational institutions.
