Hyderabad: The Telangana Education Department decided to introduce work books for students studying in Classes 6 to 10 in government schools from the 2026-27 academic year.
The department plans to distribute the work books to all government schools by the end of June. Officials prepared modules in a conversation-based format for Telugu, Hindi, English, Science, Social Studies and Mathematics subjects to help students understand lessons easily.
However, authorities have not yet started the printing process for the work books. Officials said they would begin printing shortly. At the same time, doubts remain over whether the department can complete distribution by the end of June as planned.
Work books aimed at improving learning standards
The Education Department believes regular practice can help students improve subject knowledge and secure better examination results. Officials said the specially designed work books would strengthen continuous learning instead of limiting students to classroom listening alone.
The decision is expected to benefit nearly 10 lakh students studying in government schools across the state.
Meanwhile, the department decided to print nearly 90 per cent of the books in English medium. Officials said the move matched modern educational requirements and would help government school students compete effectively.
Authorities also expect the books to improve students’ command of English. In addition, students can practise topics immediately after classroom teaching through the exercises included in the modules. Officials believe the approach will improve subject understanding and overall academic performance.
