Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said the Telangana government had transferred ₹1,64,431 crore directly into people’s bank accounts over the past three years. He claimed that government welfare programmes had benefited nearly every family in the state. He also challenged political opponents to dispute the figures presented by the administration.
Bhatti Vikramarka disclosed the Telangana welfare transfers while addressing a public meeting at Mannanur in the Achampet Assembly constituency on Wednesday. Earlier, he laid the foundation stone for a 220/33 kV electricity substation and launched development works worth ₹74.82 crore in the constituency.
The Deputy Chief Minister said the government maintained complete transparency in public expenditure and was prepared for a detailed debate on its spending. He maintained that available financial resources were being directed towards planned welfare programmes and regional development.
Telangana welfare transfers benefited 1.06 crore families
Bhatti Vikramarka said Telangana had approximately 1.15 crore families, of which nearly 1.06 crore benefited from various government welfare programmes. He cited the figures to support his claim that the administration had extended welfare assistance to a substantial majority of households.
The Deputy Chief Minister asserted that the government had maintained accountability while transferring funds directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts. He also reiterated his challenge to political opponents to examine and debate the administration’s expenditure figures.
Turning to infrastructure development, Bhatti Vikramarka announced that the government had allocated ₹90,000 crore for road construction across Telangana. He said the administration would prepare district-specific development plans based on the resources and strengths of individual regions.
These plans would consider natural resources, rivers, mineral deposits and available human resources. The Deputy Chief Minister said the approach would help guide regional development and infrastructure planning according to local requirements.
Achampet targeted for transport and tourism development
Bhatti Vikramarka outlined the government’s plans to develop Achampet into a major transport and tourism hub. He said the proposed development would focus on creating employment opportunities for local youth.
The Deputy Chief Minister linked the initiative to broader efforts to strengthen regional infrastructure and economic activity. During his visit to Mannanur, he laid the foundation stone for the 220/33 kV substation.
He also inaugurated the commencement of development works valued at ₹74.82 crore across the Achampet constituency. Bhatti Vikramarka said the government intended to use public funds for welfare measures alongside infrastructure projects aimed at supporting regional growth.
