Telangana tourism development gets strategic push from CS

Hyderabad: Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju called for a focused strategy to accelerate Telangana tourism development in line with the State Tourism Policy.

He asked officials to identify destinations with strong tourism potential. He also called for quality hotels and essential visitor facilities at these locations.

Jaju made the remarks while reviewing tourism infrastructure development at the Secretariat on Saturday.

He stressed that accommodation and other amenities must meet the growing needs of tourists. Therefore, the government should focus resources on selected destinations with high potential.

The Chief Secretary suggested upgrading and modernising suitable properties owned by the Telangana Tourism Development Corporation (TGTDC). These facilities could offer better accommodation and services to visitors.

He also proposed identifying government land for tourism infrastructure. In addition, officials could consider suitable semi-forest land where existing rules and regulations allow such development.

Telangana tourism development to focus on visitor experience

Jaju stressed the need to create a stronger ecosystem around major tourist destinations. Better accommodation, connectivity and amenities would form key parts of this approach.

At the same time, he called for improvements in the overall visitor experience.

The Chief Secretary also sought an aggressive and comprehensive tourism promotion strategy. He said Telangana should emerge as an attractive destination for tourists.

For this purpose, Jaju suggested identifying suitable personalities to showcase the State’s tourism potential. Such personalities could help take the Telangana tourism brand to a wider audience.

He also called for a distinctive and attractive tagline for tourism promotion.

Officials would use the tagline consistently across promotional campaigns and branding initiatives.

Heritage and nature tourism included in wider plan

Jaju directed officials to prepare a comprehensive strategy for Telangana tourism development.

The plan should cover the State’s diverse tourism offerings. These include heritage, culture, nature and eco-tourism.

In addition, the strategy should cover adventure tourism and other emerging tourism segments.

Officials should align infrastructure, promotion and branding efforts with the broader objectives of the State Tourism Policy.

The review meeting focused on strengthening tourism infrastructure and identifying practical opportunities for development across Telangana.
