Hyderabad: Telangana Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy directed the committee preparing the State’s Television Awards to ensure the awards reflect Telangana’s identity, culture and uniqueness.
The Minister chaired a review meeting on the awards framework. During the meeting, the committee discussed the logo, guidelines, award categories, names and the selection process. MLC Shankar Naik, Film Development Corporation Managing Director Mukunda Reddy, the committee chairman, members and officials attended.
Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said television remained one of the most popular entertainment platforms. According to him, women and senior citizens formed a large section of its audience.
The Minister said the awards would recognise artists and technicians across all television disciplines. In addition, serials, programmes carrying strong social messages and children’s productions would also receive recognition.
Television Awards to reflect Telangana identity
Committee members proposed naming the Television Awards after former Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao. Accordingly, the Minister said he would place the proposal before Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for discussion.
Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said P.V. Narasimha Rao was a multilingual scholar. Moreover, he said the former Prime Minister laid the foundation for India’s economic reforms. Therefore, the government was open to considering the names of eminent personalities for the awards.
The Minister instructed the committee to complete the guidelines, logo and award names at the earliest. Furthermore, he said the award name and logo should reflect Telangana’s spirit, culture and distinct identity.
He directed the committee to organise the inaugural Television Awards with high standards. Meanwhile, the selection of award winners should remain transparent and impartial.
The Minister also asked Film Development Corporation Managing Director Mukunda Reddy to take special responsibility for organising the event. Additionally, he instructed officials to identify two or three possible venues for the award ceremony.
Finally, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said the government would take a final decision on the Television Awards after discussing all proposals with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
