Telangana to begin SIR process from June 15

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudarshan Reddy on Saturday announced that the Telangana SIR process would begin across the state from June 15.

He said electoral roll preparation would continue from June 15 to June 24. House-to-house verification would take place between June 25 and July 24.

During a media briefing, the CEO said nearly 35,000 Booth Level Officers would conduct a door-to-door survey across Telangana. Officials would distribute partially permitted enumeration forms to existing electors during the exercise.

He said every household would receive at least three visits from a Booth Level Officer. The officers would later collect the completed forms from electors.

Telangana SIR process includes voter verification

Sudarshan Reddy said officials would publish the draft electoral rolls after completion of the verification process.

Authorities would accept claims and objections from July 31 to August 30. The final electoral roll would be published on October 1, he added.

The CEO said officials would record details of new voters through Form-6. He also stated that online enumeration facilities were available through the official website.

According to the CEO, authorities introduced a “Book a Call with BLO” feature along with the voter helpline number 1950.

Telangana SIR process requires prescribed forms

Sudarshan Reddy clarified that electors only needed to submit the prescribed form during the enumeration process. He said officials would not seek any additional documents at that stage.

He stated that officials would include names of all applicants who submitted forms in the draft voter list. Authorities would separately display names of persons who failed to submit forms in a booth-wise format.

The CEO said officials would accept objections after publication of the draft electoral rolls.

He explained that document submission requirements would depend on the applicant’s date of birth. People born before July 1, 1987, would need to submit only one document.

Applicants born between 1987 and 2004 would need to provide parental information. Those born after 2004 would have to submit parental documents, he added.
