Hyderabad: Telangana police recruitment will get a three-year upper age relaxation for direct recruitment to constable and equivalent posts. The Telangana government approved the change on September 9.
The relaxation covers posts in the Police Department, Fire Services, Prisons Department and Special Protection Force (SPF). It also covers equivalent posts in the Excise, Transport and Forest departments recruited through the Telangana State Level Police Recruitment Board.
The General Administration (Services-A) Department issued G.O.Ms.No.129 on September 9. The order revised the upper age limit under earlier government orders governing direct recruitment.
The government reviewed the age limits applicable to different services before approving the change. Officials had identified differences between the age limits for Sub-Inspectors and Constables.
Earlier orders had already granted a seven-year increase in the upper age limit for certain recruitments. The latest decision adds another three years for the specified posts.
Telangana police recruitment gets revised age limit
The government directed officials to apply the revised limit to direct recruitment for constable and equivalent posts covered by the relevant special or ad-hoc rules.
The notification amended the applicable recruitment rules through an ad-hoc provision. It raises the prescribed upper age limit by three years for the posts covered by the order.
The Telangana State Level Police Recruitment Board will follow the revised limit for the specified recruitments. The government issued the notification under Article 309 of the Constitution.
Officials sent copies of the order to the Telangana State Level Police Recruitment Board in Hyderabad, the Chief Secretary, the Telangana Public Service Commission and heads of concerned departments.
The order also reached other officials and departments concerned with the recruitment process. The latest notification formally provides the additional three-year relaxation for the specified direct recruitment posts.
