Hyderabad: Telangana Finance Commission Chairman Sirisilla Rajaiah and members of the commission met Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla at Lok Bhavan on Saturday and discussed issues related to the State’s financial affairs and the development of local bodies.
Rajaiah paid a courtesy call on the Governor along with State Finance Commission members Sankepalli Sudheer Reddy and Rangaraju. Member Secretary P. Katyayani Devi also attended the meeting.
During the interaction, the delegation held brief discussions on matters concerning financial administration and the strengthening of local governance institutions in the State.
Later in the day, JNTU Vice-Chancellor Prof. T. Kishen Kumar Reddy, Government of India Mint Chief General Manager Dr. Ramakant Dixit and BJP Telangana State Vice-President K. Madhavi also called on the Governor at Lok Bhavan.
Telangana Finance Commission meeting followed by welfare initiative
Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla later flagged off the second phase of “Abhaya Hunt the Summer 2026” at Lok Bhavan. The initiative was organised by the Abhaya Foundation to support vulnerable groups affected by extreme summer temperatures.
The programme focuses on protecting street vendors, daily wage workers, road construction labourers and homeless persons from heat-related hardships. As part of the initiative, the Governor inaugurated the distribution of 500 umbrellas in Telangana.
Organisers said that with CSR support from Shar Projects and Yathapu Consulting, around 3,000 umbrellas worth nearly ₹15 lakh will be distributed across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and West Bengal.
Abhaya Foundation founder Swami Balachandra, trustee Gubba Vidyasagar and representatives of Shar Projects and Yathapu Consulting participated in the programme.
