Hyderabad: The Telangana government approved the Telangana Family Register to simplify citizen services and create a uniform digital record of family details. The Revenue Department issued G.O. Ms. No. 172 to establish the system and provide Family Register Certificates through the MeeSeva platform.
The government said the electronic register would help citizens access services without repeatedly producing family records for verification. Further, it aims to ensure uniformity while providing an official and easily accessible family record.
Under the new system, every family will receive a Family Register Identification Number. It will be the same as the family’s ration card number. The register will include the head of the family, every family member, their relationship, age, date of birth, gender, Aadhaar number and present address.
Meanwhile, the Revenue Department will populate the register electronically using data from the Food Security Card database maintained by the Civil Supplies Department. However, it clarified that the register will only record family composition. It will not determine property ownership, legal heirship or eligibility for government welfare benefits.
Telangana Family Register through MeeSeva
The government will introduce the Family Register Certificate as a new citizen service through MeeSeva. Any adult family member whose details appear in the register can apply through a MeeSeva centre, the online portal or the mobile application. Applicants must pay the prescribed user charges.
In addition, applicants must provide the family’s Food Security Card or ration card number. The Tahsildar of the concerned mandal will verify the application. The Tahsildar will approve eligible applications through a digital signature after confirming the particulars.
Further, MeeSeva will make the digitally signed certificate available for download after approval. Accordingly, the government fixed a service delivery timeline of two working days from the date of receiving the application.
Moreover, the Commissioner of Electronic Service Delivery (ESD) will integrate the MeeSeva platform with the Food Security Card database through an Application Programming Interface (API). Also, the Commissioner of Civil Supplies will provide access to the database. Finally, District Collectors will monitor the implementation of the new service across the State.
