Task Force arrests man for illegal sale of steroid injections in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The Commissioner’s Task Force, West Zone, arrested a 25-year-old man in Hyderabad for the illegal sale of steroid injections used for bodybuilding, with this incident highlighting ongoing concerns about illegal steroid sale in fitness circles. The operation led to the seizure of drugs and equipment worth ₹1.6 lakh.

According to Additional DCP Md Iqbal Siddique, the accused, Mohd. Faisal Khan, worked as a furniture laborer and lived in Kishanbagh. He frequently visited a gym, where he discovered high demand among youth for quick muscle-building substances.

Accused sourced steroids online, sold without prescription

Police said Faisal illegally procured Mephentermine Sulphate injections through Indiamart from Surat and sold them at inflated prices without a drug licence or doctor’s prescription. The sale of these steroids without proper authorization constitutes an illegal activity under drug regulations, fitting the pattern of illegal steroid sale the authorities are targeting. The seized material included 133 injections, 100 disposable syringes, and a mobile phone.

Acting on a tip-off, the West Zone Task Force apprehended him near Asian Theatre in Attapur. During questioning, he admitted to selling steroids without required legal permissions effectively confirming involvement in the illegal steroid sale network in the area.

Police warned that unsupervised steroid use poses serious health risks. Authorities said they had counselled those who consumed the injections and advised them to seek medical help from qualified professionals.

The arrest was made under the supervision of Inspector Ch. Yadender and Sub-Inspector Md. Jahed.
