Hyderabad: The Suraram road accident claimed two lives on Monday morning after a speeding lorry rammed a motorcycle near Jyothi Milk Industry. Police said the lorry moved at high speed, veered off course and hit the bike travelling on the same stretch. The crash killed Jyothi, aged 32, from Venkat Ram Nagar, and Surender Reddy, aged 45, a bike taxi rider from Pandu Basti. They died at the spot due to severe injuries.
Police said Jyothi hired the motorcycle for local travel before the crash occurred. The force of the impact threw both victims off the bike. Locals gathered at the area soon after and alerted the authorities. Traffic slowed for a brief period as residents attempted to assist and waited for the police to arrive.
Suraram road accident prompts police investigation
The Suraram police reached the location, moved the bodies for autopsy and seized the lorry involved in the crash. Officers said the driver fled the spot soon after the collision. They added that initial findings point to rash and negligent driving. The investigation will continue through the day as teams review evidence from the scene.
