Suraksha Kavach Awards honour schools, teachers and students

Hyderabad: The Suraksha Kavach Awards 2025-26 honoured schools, teachers and students for promoting safer and more inclusive learning environments. Cyberabad Police, the Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC) and the Telangana Rising Initiative jointly presented the awards.

The programme carried the theme, “Together, We Build a Safer, Stronger Tomorrow.” It recognised schools, educators and students for their commitment to strengthening child safety through Suraksha Kavach Clubs. The event also reaffirmed the importance of collaboration, awareness and community engagement in creating safer school environments.

Dr. Vanitha Datla, Chairperson of ELICO and Joint Secretary of the SCSC Children and Youth Forum, attended the programme. DCP Cyber Crimes K. Pushpa, SCSC Executive Committee Member Chetana Kaasam and SCSC Director of Strategic Program Execution Rashmi Srivastava also participated.

Suraksha Kavach Awards promote child safety

Addressing the gathering, DCP K. Pushpa encouraged schools to strengthen student-led safety initiatives, mentorship and mental well-being support. She also urged institutions to expand volunteer participation and develop trained student mentors to support their peers.

Furthermore, she said schools should make Suraksha Kavach Clubs more inclusive. She added that safety initiatives may have different names across institutions. However, she stressed that they all shared the common goal of creating safer spaces for children.

Suraksha Kavach Awards recognise four categories

Organisers presented the awards in four categories. The Suraksha Veer award recognised students who demonstrated outstanding leadership in promoting safety and awareness.

The Suraksha Sahayak award honoured teachers for their commitment to creating safer school environments. Meanwhile, the Suraksha Guru award recognised school leaders who promoted a culture of safety and well-being. In addition, the Suraksha Pratiman award honoured institutions that demonstrated exemplary implementation of the Suraksha Kavach initiative.
