Step-father kills 10-year-old boy in Chandrayangutta

Hyderabad: A step-father brutally killed a 10-year-old boy in Chandrayangutta after attacking him in a fit of rage, police said on Saturday.

According to police, the accused assaulted the child after repeated complaints from neighbours over frequent quarrels with local children. During the attack, the accused smashed the boy’s head against the road, causing severe injuries.

The victim was identified as Shaik Mohammed Azhar, aged 10. He suffered critical head injuries and later died while undergoing treatment at Gandhi Hospital.

The incident occurred on December 7 in Chandrayangutta. Family members rushed the injured child to the hospital immediately after the assault.

Police said the boy’s mother had earlier divorced her first husband due to marital disputes. She later married another man from the same locality, who became the child’s step-father.

Azhar, the son from her first marriage, lived with the couple. Locals often questioned the step-father over the boy’s frequent fights with neighbourhood children.

On the day of the incident, police said the accused lost his temper and violently attacked the child. Following the boy’s death, Chandrayangutta police registered a murder case.

Police took the accused step-father into custody and began questioning him. Further investigation into the Chandrayangutta child murder was underway.
