International mines rescue event tests technical skills
The underground rescue competition evaluated teams in firefighting, rescue operations, and technical support activities.
The Singareni team performed strongly in all sections and secured the top position.
As part of the competition, organisers conducted a 90-minute technical test at the Mopani Central Training Centre in Mufulira.
Representing Singareni, CH. Sai Krishna completed the assigned task in just 52 minutes. He rectified and refilled a carbon dioxide absorbent canister during the event.
International mines rescue team completes task quickly
In another competition event at the west portal mine, organisers asked teams to rescue two trapped individuals from a depth of 700 metres underground.
Although judges allotted two hours for the task, the Singareni team completed the operation in 52 minutes.
The team installed an L-bend in a pump, shut down a substation, and located the victims using a mine plan. Team members also revived an unconscious person near an LHD machine and transported another injured individual safely to the surface.
A panel of two judges monitored the rescue operation and appreciated the team’s coordination, alertness, and discipline.
Congratulating the team, SCCL Chairman and Managing Director Dr. Buddhaprakash Jyothi described the international mines rescue victory as a proud achievement for the organisation.
