Singapore delegation signals readiness for semiconductor industry in Telangana
Hyderabad: Singapore delegation members signalled readiness to set up a semiconductor industry in Telangana during a meeting with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy at the Assembly. Augustine Lee, Permanent Secretary of Singapore’s Energy and Trade Division, led the delegation.
The delegation discussed investment and development opportunities in Telangana. Revanth Reddy outlined the government’s plans for Musi rejuvenation and Future City.
The Chief Minister said the first phase of Musi rejuvenation would extend up to Gandhi Sarovar, where the Musi and Eesa rivers meet. He also said the government had prepared plans for riverfront development and the expansion of the night economy.
Revanth Reddy said Hyderabad was being developed as a tourism destination and a knowledge hub. He said Harvard and Oxford universities, MIT and London School of Business had agreed to establish offshore campuses in Hyderabad.
Singapore delegation discusses Future City and investment
The Chief Minister said Telangana had prepared plans to develop Bharat Future City as a net-zero city. He also sought financial support from Singapore for state development, along with investments in Telangana.
Revanth Reddy assured the delegation that the state government would provide all possible support for investments. The Singapore representatives responded positively to the proposals discussed at the meeting.
The Chief Minister also invited the Singapore delegation to the Telangana Global Summit at Future City in December. He extended the invitation during discussions on investment and development cooperation.
Government Adviser Ramakrishna Rao attended the meeting. Senior Director for South Asia Dr Francis Chong, Consul-General William Chik and other Singapore representatives also participated.
The meeting covered semiconductor investment, Musi rejuvenation and Future City development. The Singapore delegation also received an invitation to attend the December Telangana Global Summit.
