Simple e-governance services stressed by Cabinet Secretary

Hyderabad: Union Cabinet Secretary Dr T. V. Somanathan on Monday directed state chief secretaries to strengthen Simple e-governance systems to provide better public services through simplified digital administration.

During a video conference, the Cabinet Secretary advised states to study the simplegov e-governance model being implemented by the Tamil Nadu government. He said states should adopt similar systems in line with their existing rules and administrative requirements.

Somanathan stressed the need to deliver simpler and more efficient government services to citizens through digital platforms.

State Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao explained the e-governance initiatives being implemented by the Telangana government during the meeting.

He said the state was providing transparent and simplified citizen services through digital systems. In addition, he said online dashboards were being used regularly to monitor and display departmental performance.

Ramakrishna Rao explained the services being provided through e-governance in departments such as municipal administration, industries, education, energy and revenue.

Simple e-governance model to be studied further

The Cabinet Secretary appreciated Telangana’s e-governance initiatives and commended Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao for the implementation of digital governance systems.

Officials said the Telangana government would also study the Tamil Nadu model in detail. The state planned to introduce suitable changes in e-governance systems without causing financial burden or inconvenience to the public.

Special Chief Secretary Naveen Mittal, Principal Secretary Yogita Rana, Shikha Goel, Secretaries Raghunandan Rao, E. Sridhar and Anita Ramachandran attended the meeting.

Housing Managing Director V. P. Gautam, SERP CEO Divya and other senior officials also participated in the video conference.
