Hyderabad: Telangana Government Adviser Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Friday urged all eligible citizens to participate in the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, saying the exercise was essential to protect democracy and maintain accurate voter records.
Addressing worshippers at Bilal Masjid after Friday prayers in Kamareddy, Shabbir Ali appealed to voters to verify whether their names and personal details had been correctly included in the electoral rolls. He asked those who found errors to submit correction applications without delay. He also urged newly eligible citizens to register as voters by furnishing the required documents.
Describing voting as a valuable constitutional right, Shabbir Ali said every citizen had a responsibility to safeguard it. He called on political parties, elected representatives, social organisations and activists to create awareness about the Special Intensive Revision at village, ward and colony levels.
He stressed that every effort should be made to ensure no eligible voter was left out of the electoral rolls. Greater public participation in the revision process would further strengthen the democratic system, he added.
