SCR GM reviews train safety and heatwave preparedness

Hyderabad: South Central Railway General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava reviewed train safety heatwave preparedness during a high-level meeting at Rail Nilayam on Monday.

The meeting assessed operational readiness amid extreme summer conditions. It was attended by Additional General Manager Satya Prakash and Divisional Railway Managers from six divisions.

Officials from Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur, Secunderabad, Hyderabad, and Nanded divisions participated. The review focused on maintaining safe train operations during heatwave conditions.

Srivastava stressed the need for strengthening tracks and ensuring proper ballast filling. He also directed strict adherence to summer safety protocols across all divisions.

Train safety heatwave preparedness focuses on worker protection

The General Manager instructed officials to provide protective gear to track workers. He also emphasised the supply of drinking water and ORS packets to staff working in high temperatures.

Additionally, he reviewed fire safety measures in trains to prevent incidents during summer. He called for installation of CCTV cameras at key locations to enhance monitoring.

Srivastava also highlighted the need for fencing at trespass-prone areas. He directed officials to expedite ongoing safety initiatives and maintain constant vigilance.

The review aimed to ensure passenger safety and uninterrupted operations during peak summer conditions across the South Central Railway network.
