Sanjay Jaju reviews Musi Riverfront Development Project progress

Hyderabad: Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju on Thursday reviewed the progress of the Musi Riverfront Development Project during a field inspection of key Phase-I locations in Hyderabad. He stressed coordinated execution, scientific planning and strict adherence to environmental standards for the long-term success of the project.

The inspection covered Osmansagar, the Narsingi Sewage Treatment Plant site and the Gandhi Sarovar project lands. Moreover, these locations form key components of the State government’s river rejuvenation and urban resilience programme.

During the visit, Jaju held detailed discussions with the Managing Director and Joint Managing Director of MRDCL, the Managing Director of HMWSSB and senior officials from various departments. The review focused on flood mitigation, sewage treatment integration, land development readiness and corridor-level infrastructure planning.

He also offered strategic suggestions to improve ecological sustainability and maximise the project’s long-term urban impact. Furthermore, he said coordinated implementation would help deliver lasting benefits to Hyderabad residents.

Master plan proposed for Musi Riverfront Development corridor

The Chief Secretary suggested that MRDCL and HMDA prepare a separate master plan for the area between the Musa and Eesa rivers up to their confluence at Gandhi Sarovar. He said the proposal would strengthen connectivity while supporting sustainable urban growth along the riverfront.

MRDCL will incorporate the recommendations into the project and continue accelerating implementation across the Phase-I stretch. Meanwhile, officials will pursue the next stages of development in line with the guidance provided during the review.
