Hyderabad: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka met Telangana Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar in his chamber on Tuesday morning after Monday’s incidents.
The Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister visited the Speaker before the Assembly proceedings began. They discussed the developments that occurred outside the Assembly on the opening day of the session.
Revanth Reddy expressed deep concern over the previous day’s incidents. He also consoled the Speaker and assured him of full government support.
The Chief Minister promised appropriate legal action against those responsible. He also said the government would protect the dignity of the Speaker’s constitutional office.
Speaker Gaddam Prasad receives key assurance
Monday’s BRS protest inside the Assembly premises had triggered tension. BRS leaders, including Harish Rao and K.T. Rama Rao, wore black T-shirts and staged a protest.
According to allegations, the protesters clashed with security personnel and officials during the confrontation. Some leaders also allegedly removed their clothes and behaved inappropriately.
The ruling side further alleged that BRS leaders used abusive language against Speaker Gaddam Prasad. It condemned the alleged remarks as an insult to Telangana society.
The controversy also included allegations that some remarks targeted the Speaker personally and referred to his family. Media reports showed emotional scenes involving the Speaker after the incident.
The developments moved Revanth Reddy to meet the Speaker directly before the House proceedings. He went to the Speaker’s chamber and offered him support.
The Chief Minister made it clear that his government would not compromise on the dignity of the Speaker’s office. He also assured the Speaker that the government would take necessary legal action against those responsible.
