Hyderabad: Former minister and BRS Deputy Floor Leader Talasani Srinivas Yadav on Thursday urged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to exercise restraint while criticising political opponents.
Talasani objected to the Revanth Reddy remarks against the BRS and its leaders. He asked the Chief Minister to maintain the dignity associated with his office while making political statements.
Addressing a press conference at his camp office in West Marredpally, Talasani also defended projects initiated by the previous BRS government.
He cited the Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences hospitals at Sanathnagar, Alwal and Kothapet. Talasani said the K. Chandrashekar Rao government had planned the hospitals to provide corporate-standard healthcare facilities.
Revanth Reddy remarks draw criticism over TIMS claims
Talasani said the previous government conceived the TIMS hospitals after the COVID-19 pandemic exposed shortages of hospital beds and oxygen. According to him, nearly 60 per cent of construction work on the projects had been completed during the BRS government’s tenure.
He accused the Congress government of hurriedly inaugurating projects initiated by the previous administration. At the same time, he alleged that the government was making politically motivated claims regarding those projects.
Talasani also condemned alleged restrictions imposed on BRS leaders and cases registered against them. He said people were closely observing the government’s actions. Moreover, he warned that voters would teach the Congress government a fitting lesson.
The BRS leader again advised the Chief Minister to respect the dignity of his position. His criticism of the Revanth Reddy remarks formed part of his broader attack on the Congress government’s functioning.
Section 22-A land controversy raised
Talasani also targeted the government over the controversy surrounding lands listed under Section 22-A. He alleged that the Congress government was misusing the provision to harass private landowners and extract commissions.
The former minister questioned the government’s authority to include privately owned land in the prohibited properties list. He also alleged that houses belonging to poor families had entered the list.
According to Talasani, affected property owners faced intimidation and pressure while seeking removal of their properties from the Section 22-A list. He alleged that some landowners were being asked to pay commissions of up to 30 per cent to secure clearance of their properties.
Talasani further alleged that officials and political leaders were deliberately creating errors in land records. Later, when those issues came under scrutiny, responsibility was being shifted onto officials, he claimed.
Revanth Reddy remarks row extends to land allegations
Talasani demanded complete transparency in the preparation of the prohibited properties list. He warned the government against using Section 22-A as a mechanism to trouble genuine private landowners.
The BRS leader said the administration should explain how private properties entered the prohibited list. He also demanded accountability over the alleged irregularities. Alongside his objections to the Revanth Reddy remarks, Talasani accused the Congress administration of claiming credit for projects initiated during the BRS tenure.
He maintained that the government should address questions over Section 22-A transparently rather than subject genuine property owners to difficulties.
