Revanth Reddy promises BC census corrections, addresses Mudiraj demand for BC-A status

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said the Telangana government would review the Revanth Reddy BC census figures and correct omissions if communities reported missing entries. He said his government had completed the caste enumeration within a year, accomplishing a task no government had undertaken in the previous century.

Reddy made the remarks at the birth anniversary celebrations of Panduga Sayanna Mudiraj at Ravindra Bharathi in Hyderabad. He urged people from every caste to submit details if they believed the census had undercounted their community.

The government would examine those complaints and add eligible people whose details did not appear in the records, he said. Reddy also said the Cabinet would discuss the issue at its next meeting and work towards more accurate figures.

The Chief Minister described social justice for Backward Classes as a key government objective. He said he would prefer to surround himself with members of weaker sections if he had the choice.

Reddy also responded to the demand to shift the Mudiraj community from the BC-D list to the BC-A category. He advised Mudiraj leaders to consult legal experts and assess the legal options for changing the community’s classification.

He also asked the leaders to understand concerns among the Gangaputra community. Reddy said his government had provided several opportunities to Mudiraj members since taking office. He added that other leaders from the community could also receive suitable opportunities soon.

Speaking about his working style, Reddy indirectly criticised former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao. He said he still had the age and energy to work and was not someone who would remain idle at a farmhouse.

The Chief Minister said his government had appointed several people from the Mudiraj community to various positions. He promised to consider other community leaders for suitable roles in the coming days.

Reddy also announced that the government would officially observe Panduga Sayanna’s birth and death anniversaries. He assured Sayanna’s family of government support.

In addition, he said the government would install statues of Doddhi Komuraiah and Panduga Sayanna near Tank Bund. He said people had a shared responsibility to remember their contributions.

Reddy said his government continued welfare schemes introduced by the previous administration while also implementing new programmes. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to social justice and equal opportunities for weaker sections.
